Sign Of The Week – Lunch Box

Sign Of The Week – Lunch Box

Welcome to the Sign Of The Week.

I am so excited about how well The Sign of the Week has been received and how many schools and pre-schools have started spreading the Lámh, one sign at a time.

Over the last few months, I have been supporting preschoolers with special needs transitioning to mainstream schools.  Many children use Lámh to communicate, as their speech is not yet easily understood. Back in spring, I started helping teachers to learn Lámh signs and how to use them in the classroom.

Not surprisingly, during my Lámh courses over the summer, many teachers who are in this same situation came to the training.

By using Lámh you are giving children a voice to be able to:

  • Communicate what they need
  • Connect with others
  • Share their thoughts and feelings

It is truly wonderful to see how committed you all are in supporting your students.

Anyone can learn Lámh, your entire school can learn Lámh, just one sign at a time.

This week the sign is related to the school lunch routine.

The sign for this week, starting on Monday the 9th of September is Lunch Box.

We can do it. Let’s #spreadthelámh this season.
