Welcome to the Sign Of The Week.
This year I put up our Christmas tree quite early, I had it up and decorated in the last week of November – I just couldn’t resist! I love the feeling that the soft glittering lights bring to the house, it makes everything so peaceful. I even caught?the kids lying on the couch staring at the Christmas lights, they seem to find it relaxing too!
Some children with special needs can struggle with all the changes, gatherings and the unpredictability that this season brings. To counteract this, I always suggest keeping things as simple as possible and prepare them as much as you can in advance. Luckily, there are lots of sensory-friendly events around Ireland, our own local library has organised a Santa visit for children with special needs. Availing of these events can make meeting Santa more fun and less overwhelming for our children and stress-free for us parents and teachers.?
With Christmas fast approaching and the festivities in full swing, I am looking forward to quite a few events with my students this week coming, where we will sing and sign beside the Christmas tree.?
So the sign for the week starting on Monday the 9th of December is?TREE.
Enjoy the Christmas celebrations!
