Super Simple Playdough Recipe

Super Simple Playdough Recipe

This week I want to share a quick recipe to make homemade playdough. I use a super simple recipe, so you probably already have all the ingredients you need for it in the house. You can just make white playdough, or you can add some food colouring for a bit more fun.

I use this recipe with my pre-school students, so I get them listening, concentrating, talking about colours and even helping me with all the measurements.

These measurements will make the equivalent of one pot of playdough.

1 cup of white flour.
1 cup of salt
1 cup of warm water
1 tbsp vegetable oil
food colouring

  1. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix a cup of warm water, 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and add a few drops of food colouring.
  3. Pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture slowly, stirring as you pour.
  4. Knead the dough with your hands to form the dough. If the mixture is too sticky, add some more flour.

When your children finish playing with it, wrap the dough tightly in cling film and put it in the fridge to keep it fresh.

Have fun!
