Lámh SIgn For TO BUILD
Nov 03, 2021
Here, I will teach you a sign you can use during playtime: the sign for TO BUILD.
Building blocks is an activity I do with my students all the time.
This activity helps children develop hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. However, building blocks can also be used to work on social skills.
I start by gently teaching turn-taking to children who tend to play alone. I invite them to join a building game and I show them how to take turns by incorporating signs such as “your turn, my turn, wait, build”, and giving lots of praise every time they do so.
Once the child is confident in playing this game, I create opportunities to play with building blocks with another friend while I guide them to take turns.
Have fun building blocks, Lego, and big towers, and remember to use the sign for TO BUILD.
