Empowering families: from a mother’s perspective.

This presentation has been developed for clinicians and service providers who want to deliver a more family-centered support.

In this talk, I will share my experience in parenting a child with special needs and how this influenced and changed how I work with families. I will explain why services need to focus their interventions on empowering families and teachers and people in the community.

Professionals will learn about the 4 pillars that enable professionals to create positive relationships with families:

  • Correctly identify family priorities.
  • Develop the parents’ resourcefulness.
  • Deal with complaints in an empathetic manner.
  • Give families actionable steps they can actually implement.

When professionals focus on giving parents practical knowledge and skills, parents will be able to support their children 24/7. If professionals can create a good strong foundation, parents can support their children in daily life and long into the future.

The duration and content of this conference will be tailored for each specific event. It can be delivered as a short presentation or a more in-depth training workshop. Contact me for more details.
