Sign Of The Week – To Wait

Welcome to the Sign Of The Week.

Did you know that children with autism are 4 times more likely to follow instructions when you use signs with words? Yes, 4 times more likely! That shows how helpful visual cues are for children with language delays.

With that in mind, today, I have picked a sign to support the following instructions in the classroom: TO WAIT. Signing for “wait” at the same time you give the instruction will help your students understand better.

The sign of the week, starting next Monday the 14th of September, is TO WAIT.

Sign Of The Week – Toilet

Welcome to the Sign Of The Week.

Today is day 4, can you believe it? Dropping the kids to school feels between really familiar and strange at the same time.

I am cherishing the routine of getting the kids ready for bed early and packing lunches in the morning. Sometimes we need to lose things before we truly appreciate how important they are.

I hope that you too are doing well in your school, and I pray for everyone to stay healthy and safe.

The sign for this week is a sign all kids need, especially the little ones: TOILET. This sign will help those of you who are supporting students who are just toilet trained, and now they need to get used to using the bathroom in school too.

So, the sign of the week starting on Monday the 7th of September is TOILET.

Sign Of The Week – Birthday

Welcome to the Sign Of The Week.

The first few weeks in July are an exciting time in my house, why? My two kids celebrate their birthdays in July – two weeks apart! I usually get all our birthday supplies set up, balloons, banners, birthday cards, lots of goodies, you name it and leave everything up until the “birthday season” is over.

Our little birthday tradition inspired next week’s sign, which will be birthday.
It’s a “must-have” sign, especially with the little ones, who always feel so excited when it’s their special day.

The sign of the week starting next Monday the 20th of July is BIRTHDAY.

SIgn Of The Week – Sea

Welcome to the Sign Of The Week.

I am so happy to see the sunshine back! Just two days ago I was meeting some friends at the park. We had to shelter under a tree wrapped up in our jackets. I thought summer was gone. But here we are, another gorgeous sunny day, yay!

We live near the sea, so we take any opportunity to walk down to the beach for some fun.
I hope you are making the most of the good weather too.

The sign of the week starting next Monday the 29th of June is SEA.
